I would like to say thuderbolt 4 instead, but there is nothing on 4 announced, even though pcie-4 is out. Intel has been pushing OCuLink-2 though, which is sort of closer to what thunderbolt was supposed to be.
It would have been good if the usb-c plug and thunderbolt 4 was used instead of HDMI. Then most things, including external hard drive coluld be done through one sort of interface.
Remember MHL promised 100gb/s in usb-c. People ohhing and ahhing, no need for things like tb, I thought yeah, when's that coming out (after tb reaches likely 100gb/s anyway). I'm suspect they could probably fit more in the existing usb-c wiring anyway. I wish HDMI would give up and adopt TB or other pci-e interface.
