Tim Butt 2 - 2017 - URSA Mini 4.6K - Cinematography Reel

PostSat Nov 11, 2017 2:24 pm

Hey all, I'm looking to hear thoughts on my latest reel that I'm putting together. All the footage has been captured with the Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K in the years 2016-2017. I would especially appreciate input on the music. Thank you, and enjoy!

P.S. The video is currently a private link. If there is enough positive feedback I'll make it public and share with the world.

Tim, that Music is good if it suits your high-energy approach. So a matter of taste and what appeals to your client base. I’m leaning more towards Mozart’s Piano Concerto 21 personally. Next time I shoot a remake of Elvira Madigan...

Hey Tim

I feel some shots are there for too long... most of them, I think. I understood the shot, the composition, the lighting, the meaning of it... and it stayed on for a bit longer after that.
At the 2min mark I got bored and stopped watching. Maybe it was the slow rhythm (paced with a faster song).

But thats just me. Cool shots though.

Thank you for the input so far guys! I had shoot this weekend, and got a few awesome shots that will probably be added to the reel. Also shooting a fire dancer around sunset today, so that has to get added to the reel once I finish up with that.

I'm going to be working on the reel. I'm thinking the song is too fast paced for a lot of the shots. I'll also see about shortening some of the shots. After all, I have to fit in some of the new stuff I'm shooting.

Rick, as much as I love Mozart, I don't know if Piano Concerto 21 is right. Especially since I watched Amadeus earlier this year and would want to have some footage that looks as good as that in my reel. I need to shoot something historical to add to the reel to justify it. Maybe even shoot an opera.

Anyways, keep the input coming everyone. I'll be updating the reel when I can. Have to finish post on the shoot I had this weekend and as well post on the fire dancer I'll be shooting later today.

Hey, Tim. Sure ‘21’ might be too slow, but it was a hint to dial back the beat intensity and you seem to be considering that.

The reel is updated music wise and a few shots from some new projects. I'm still editing the fire dancer video, so may try to get that footage in before I release the reel. Hopefully will have the fire dancer video done this week.

Would love to hear thoughts on the changes. I hope this music works better for everyone.

Tim, what an interesting update. That music is in the opinion of an old f**t much better and well-suited to many of the visuals.

I think in the next life you might suffer greatly for having too much fun in this life! Oh well it’s too late to change now so I wish you well with this reel.
