I have a Macbook Pro and a 2009 Mac Pro and would like to calibrate some monitors with Lightspace CMS.
It has come to my attention that the HDMI signal out of Macs is not good for calibrating because of ICC/VCGT info being sent along with the signal. Getting a truly RAW/NULL signal is key for calibrating, so the HDMI straight out of the Mac is not usable.
I was curious if anyone knew if the simple $39 BMD HDMI to SDI converter bypass all the ICC info? If so, this would be ideal.
I know I can buy the BMD mini monitor to get a clean signal out of the Mac Pro. I can also buy the Ultrastudio Mini Monitor to use the thunderbolt coming out of my Macbook. Hoping the cheaper option will do the trick!
Any insight would be appreciated!
