Mini-monitor HDMI>HDCP compliant Receiver>non-compliant LCD?

Is there a reason to suppose this arrangement won't work, with Resolve 14? The mini-monitor HDMI out is going into the receiver (HDCP 2.2 compliant) and the receiver is going into the monitor, which isn't HDCP compliant.

It plays a few seconds, then black outs for few seconds. HDMI from the GPU (non-HDCP compliant) plays through the receiver without issue.

I've had the same symptoms running directly to the monitor. Per Tony's notes, I tested an HDMI splitter that has its' own EDID and it seems to have fixed this problem, at least based on my first tests last night.

The short of it is that EDID handshakes seemed to be the problem, so I got a splitter that provides its own EDID for $60 at Fry's.
