Decklink Display Program

PostWed Jan 10, 2018 1:50 pm

Hello, I am looking for an application capable of taking in a feed from a Decklink recorder and displaying it fullscreen. I would like to use CasparCG for it, however Caspar is already in use on that workstation, and two server instances doesn't work well. Any ideas of a free and simple app to just take in the feed and display it?

I could try Resolve, however Resolve isn't terribly light on system resources, and I don't have an excessive amount of computing power available (though I do have a decent amount).

Thank you,
Jack

Back to basic? Will Media Express go full screen?

OBS will do this. Set up a scene with the blackmagic device as the only source, make it take up the entire canvas, then use the fullscreen projector feature to display it on the desired monitor.

I use the FFPlay utility that comes with FFMPEG for Windows.
This works for my 720p50 input source
ffplay -f dshow -video_size 1280x720 -rtbufsize 702000k -framerate 50 -i video="Decklink Video Capture":audio="Decklink Audio Capture" -threads 2

I don't get it - if you're already running CasparCG, just add another channel to it?

I will try some of these, thank you. As far as the CCG channels (assuming my understanding is correct) I can't add another channel because that would go out with the other decklink output, as there are 2 decklinks in the machine, one in and one out.

Thank you all for your help. OBS will probably be the route I go.

Depending on the decklink cards used in your Caspar machine it could even be a hardware limitation~!!

older decklink card only support In or Out at once.. Newer 4K cards some have the option of in and out at the same time..

So if you can't add one in Caspar anymore you are likely limited by hardware!

We have two machines we are testing on. The first has a SDI 4K, which can do duplex. Our other machine has one SDI (not 4K) and one Mini recorder.
