Resolve 14.2 (PC) randomly crashing

PostWed Jan 10, 2018 5:26 pm

Resolve keeps crashing randomly. Crashes between 5-15 minutes of using the software. My PC is a little outdated, so not sure if it is hardware incompatibility or what. My PC is stable with all other software, besides Resolve. Can someone please help me determine why Resolve is crashing randomly?

I tried to attach the Resolve diagnostic logs here, but am getting an error that the file size is too large. 20MB. "413 Request Entity Too Large". How can I submit the diagnostic logs?

Put the log on a shared storage site and provide the link here.

You could also start by detailing your system.

Mine too. I just opened a new project and wanted to drag and drop a mp4. Resolve instantly crashes to desktop.
Now whenever I open it, it wants to automatically open the previous project I worked on (not the new one) and still crashes to desktop. I disconnect and reconnected the database (via renaming the folder), but it still automatically loaded the previous project (because I set it the checkbox for that in settings) and then instantly crashed.

Here is the crash log from the crash where I added the new project and then restarted resolve and I tried to load the old project again: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G6VK5Z ... p=drivesdk

Running DaVinci Resolve Studio v14.2.0.012 (Windows). Nvidia Driver is updated to latest day before yesterday.

Before that whole week Resolve worked without a (bigger) hitch.

Here is what I did to fix it:
- sfc /scannow
- reinstall vcdist12
- move old disk db
- create new disk db
- create new project, deactivated auto-load project, import something, work on it, save, close
- load old disk db
- load project

I don't know why, but now it works again

That didnt work for me. Created new database, imported all my files to the library, and program crashed instantly after import.

Since that time my resolve crashed the first time I was importing a file with a 'weird' filename, this time I also changed it. I had a ` from a french title in it. Have you tried importing different files?

Yes I've tried different files. Crashes randomly. I think there is some incompatibility problem with my GPU or components in my desktop system.

Resolve is more stable with the same project files, on two of my laptops. Maybe the AMD GPU card is the issue?

Anyway, using my laptops is not something i want to do. I'm not sure how people use this software in studios without it crashing all the time. I'm currently trying to learn this software and then take the certification exam. But I cant do that, with it crashing all the time. It's interesting it is stable on my laptops, but not on my workstation. Are there specific hardware requirements?

Please review the config guide.. post at the top of the forum describes hardware that works.

You GPU might be the issue.
