Update to CNT + Space Bar function request

PostSat Feb 03, 2018 3:18 am

Any chance you could look at updating the CNT + Space Bar tool selection menu? What I'd like is the ability to add hotkeys for specific tools - like 1 for loader, 2 for merge etc - that way common tools could be found quicker. I'd also like the option to add alias names for tools. For example, I have Neat Video Reduce noise and I tend to think of this in terms of 'neat' rather than 'reduce noise' - so being able to set an alias for the tool would be helpful.

Just a thought for the next release

You can do both of those things without having to wait for the next release. The Hotkey editor is under the View menu. It's a little confusing to use it, but you can certainly set hotkeys to tools.

You can set an alias for a tool by making a macro out of it. In fact, we at Muse VFX did the exact thing you request with Reduce Noise—put it into a macro called NeatVideo. To make a macro the easy way, right-click on it and choose Macro > Create Macro. Give it a name you like at the top, and (this part is tedious) check the boxes beside every control. The tool made in this fashion will have all of its controls in a single tab, but it can be touched up in a text editor if you want to put the tabs back.

There's a rather exhaustive description of macros at Steakunderwater:
