DaVinci Resolve Unable to Start

PostWed Jan 17, 2018 1:13 am

Hello all, I need some help. I installed resolve 14.2 just a few days ago. I have a pretty good system. i7 7700 processor. 12GB Ram. Geforce GTX 1050 GPU.

After installation. The first time I start the program it get this error:

"Davinchi Resolve is unable to run as the application was not able to initialize the discrete GPU. Please ensure that DaVinci Resolve is configured to run in performance mode in your graphics card settings utility."

Does anyone else get this issue? If so how do you solve it?

Thanks.

I have the same problem as you... same error message. I have a Win 7 computer with an i7-3610 processor, and it uses an Intel HD Graphics 4000 processor. Any help getting past this error message would be great -- the only option it gives me is "Quit."

Thanks!

Bob, the Quadro 4000 is not a CUDA 3.x or newer GPU so you need to be on OpenCL, and Win 10.

Vad, your GPU is far too underpowered for Resolve.

Details of system configs that will run in the configuration guide at the top of this section.

Hi Peter,

In order for me to get a "CaptureLogs" it requires me to run the application. I problem start before that and I can not even start the application.

I have attached screenshots of the on-going problem.

I have also updated my signature with my system information.

What else can I do here?

Hi Peter,

the post states:
The “CaptureLogs” application is installed in all DaVinci Resolve systems (except Apple App store versions). If you have a repeatable crash please follow these instructions.
1) Restart DaVinci Resolve
2) Select the help menu and then select ‘Create diagnostics log on desktop’
3) Post the log or a link to it on a new thread with a description of the steps to reproduce the crash.

I can not do step #1 because I can not start the program.

Thanks.

@Haris, please try Resolve 14.3.

Also, you say you have a GTX1050. Resolve is not seeing that at all. Which is why it's trying to use the Intel HD630. 14.3 may work better with the HD630.

But you really want the 1050 to be used. Either you don't have it properly installed/powered, or/and, you don't have a proper NVIDIA driver installed. Try updating to the current NVIDIA driver:

Hi,

I have installed the 14.3 version and the same problem persists. Even though you say it should work with HD630.

Can I ask you where in the log files you see this information? I will try to get support from ASUS as well.

Thanks.

Can you provide an updated log?

It would also be helpful to have your Windows System Information file.

Open System Information, and in the File menu, select Save. That will save a .NFO file.

Put the new log and the .NFO file on your file sharing site and send a link.

You have NVIDIA driver 382.05 installed. Please install the current 390.77 driver and see if that helps.

Your System Information .NFO file begs to differ.

Did you generate that with an older driver in place?

If you look at System Information again, Components - Display, does it still say 382.05 or does it match?

If it doesn't match, I'm not sure what that means...

My issue has not yet been revolved either. Problem only exists with Davinchi Resolve.

Unfortunately I will have to look at different options.

Laura, v14 requires a different level of CUDA support so without knowing details of your system we can’t advise a course of action.

Had same problem on my pro laptop.

Davinci Resolve 15.0 beta3

Windows 7
i7-6820 HQ
Radeon™ Pro WX 4130

Installing last version of Radeon drivers solved my problem.
Hope this helps.
