Fiber Camera fiber converter + ATEM Talkback converter 4K

PostFri Feb 09, 2018 5:30 pm

Hello,

I have a doubt on the Fiber Camera fiber converter : is it capable of 2160p50 ?
I can't see it anywhere on the specs but it does 2160p60 so why it shouldn't be capable of 2150p50 as well ?

Also, on the other side, we would like to use a ATEM Talkback converter 4K directly connected to Fiber Camera fiber converter, instead of using the Blackmagic Studio Fiber Converter. Is that possible ?

If it is, will the tally & intercom functions of the ATEM Talkback converter 4K work properly with Fiber Camera fiber converter on the other side ? (Provided that we use blackmagic Mini Ursa camera in 2160p50 and ATEM 2M/E set to 2160p50 as well.)

Any insight are welcome, thank you !

best regards,
Stéphane

I dont know if the talkback converter will be compatible. It’s just a glorified SDI over Optical converter with some audio embed/deembed... and it looks like the Fiber CCU units are based on a 10G protocol, so I assume its a Tico compression being used or some other IP protocol. If that’s the case you will not be able to interface these with a typical SDI optical unit, such as the ATEM talkback.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer Zack.

That's a shame then... seems like the ATEM Talkback converter 4K is 2160p50 capable but I can't seem to find any fiber camera unit that would work smoothly with it including tally & intercom.

It's hard to figure out what can be compatible in the BM range or even 3rd party products.

best,
stéphane
