Online conform in Fusion?

PostMon Feb 12, 2018 12:22 pm

Hello, I've been trying out the free version of Fusion and I'm really liking it. Thinking of buying the studio version.

My question is how possible is it to get an edl or xml from an editor and do a conform so you can have a composition for each shot? It looks like the Studio Player could possibly work something like that but I can't find much information about how it actually works.

I come from using AE, so I typically just get an xml from premiere and everything works well when I bring it into AE. But I can see the major advantages with Fusion compositing so I'm wondering how I can make the switch.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I typically would use resolve for that. Import xml in resolve, send clips to fusion via fusionconnect.

I think Generation could have done it with some custom scripting, but the workflow to build that is pretty tough for me to wrap my head around. I think Studio Player was supposed to be an update to Generation, but the reviews have not been kind.

I wouldn't count on that being your workflow, unless you are prepared to put a lot of time and energy into building scripts, and testing them.

The support for Generation and player has never been great.

Hey,

Frank Feijen gave you the thing to do. With Fusion connected to Resolve by the FuConnect way, you'll be able to reproduce your past workflow : xml imported in Resolve > right click on the clips you'd like change in Fu > Fusion Connect

It can work, but you do have to send each shot through individually...not really your typical online process if you are used to working on every shot in a large sequence.

Works great for a shot here and there.
