Reference parent node in expression

PostWed Feb 14, 2018 10:23 pm

I am using a group with user controls to hide some functionality in a tree I'm setting up. I would like to be able to reference the group node's controls without hardcoding it's name, to allow flexibility in duplicating and renaming the group for other artists. On the console, I can reference the group node using tool.ParentTool, but using self.ParentTool from within an expression returns nil. Is there any way around this? On a broader note, is there documentation or guidelines about the Lua subset used by Simple Expressions and render scripts?

As far as I know when renaming/duplicating etc all the internals will gladly rename themselves to go with the new name. It shouldn't be a problem.
