Ultrastudio 4k can't get HDMI input from some devices anymor

PostFri Jan 26, 2018 1:36 am

Hi

I just connected my PS4 ( not the PRO ) to my ULTRASTUDIO 4k via HDMI and everything worked fine on OBS/Media Express

After that, I tuned the RGB Range to full and it worked then I turned the Deep Color option from off to Automatic then I lost the signal and OBS crashed

I returned the HDMI to my Sony 4k TV switched the settings back to off and the RGB to limited too but I still couldn't get the signal on the ULTRASTUDIO 4k

I tried to change the resolution to 720p .. 480p / turning HDCP on then turning it off / Changed the HDMI cable / downgrading the DESKTOP VIDEO SOFTWARE from 10.9.10 to 10.9.7 / Tried XBOX ONE, NINTENDO SWITCH ..I tried all of these options with both OBS/Media Express and nothing worked

I did try to connect the same HDMI to My Macbook PRO 2015 and it worked so it's not HDMI problem and it's not PS4 problem

THE ULTRASTUDIO 4k now can't get any signal from any gaming console that I have!

Is it a firmware issue or bug and how I can fix it?

Did you change any of the settings on the UltraStudio 4K? It would help others on the forums if you had more information on the product mentioned as well so they could assist you.

Dumb question here- but have you reset to default settings on your Ultrastudio?
Downgrade to 6.9 and then back 7.2?
Are all other I/O factors working?

-There is no option ( on mac ) to reset the default

- What do you mean by 7.2 & 6.9 the drivers are in 10.9.10 and above

I also upgrade to the latest drive released after this post 10.9.11 and still no luck

- What do you mean by I/O factors? if you mean the other inputs & outputs yes they are working

and if you mean other input sources .. yes they are working in the same HDMI input ( Macbook, GoPro .. etc )

the only thing that is not working the gaming consoles ( PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch )

And yes HDCP disabled ( switch doesn't have this option so it shouldn't be a problem )

Guys, this is getting ridiculous is there any way that I can chat with the support instead of the email?

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!
After some trial & error, I figured out the problem :

It's a firmware problem ( not the mac driver )

So I tried to install the oldest driver available for the device that can be installed on my mac ( El Capitan ) which is 10.1.2 this is from 26 Jun 2014. Yep very old LOL

after the installation & restart, I got a message that I need to update the hardware itself which you don't get if it's updated to the latest firmware and there is no firmware update with every driver update

after installing the firmware update the updater asked to unplug the power and the thunderbolt and plug them again.

I started OBS and IT WORKED with Full RGB colors! I tried that with Nintendo Switch

Then I installed the latest driver which is 10.9.11 & I got the firmware updater message again ( of course because it got downgraded from 10.1.2 installation

And now it's working with the latest driver & the latest firmware

so here is my conclusion why this happened :

one I played with obs setting and the color settings & my PS4 color settings I thing I broke the firmware or the hardware firmware stuck in a certain option or command

so after downgrading the firmware and reinstalling the latest one fixed it !

OK After almost more than 2 years I went back to try the latest update of Desktop Video ( which is 11.5.1 )

Unfortunately, still has the same problem.

Now I'm just trying to capture PS4 Pro 1080p 60fps .. but with no luck, I'm getting the audio-only ( and it's stuttering and glitching )

I have Mac Mojave on the MacBook Pro 2015

I tried the old 2014 version solution again I got the HDMI output to work and shows my 1080p 60fps HDMI input from PS4 Pro but I got a black screen on all capture software with glitching audio !

The weird thing is with the two firmware 2014 or the latest .. all of them shows digital glitch noise picture on the small screen on the device itself.

I'm not gonna try other devices I just need the PS4 to work on 1080p 60fps

Please if somebody knows how to fix this let me know before I spend more money to get another capture device.
