Desktop Video Setup "No Desktop Video Device Detected"

Will the blackmagic mini recorder work on a macbook from 2009? when is loaded my software "Desk Top Video 10.2.3. It said, "No Desktop Video Device Detected" with a "?" where you would see the blackmagic device, HELP

There is no Thunderbolt port on the 2009 Macbook so our product would not be detected by the computer.
