Monitoring Effects

PostMon Mar 05, 2018 5:33 pm

I was adding sound effects to my edit yesterday, so I downloaded a number of demo VST effects.

A few of them were for headphone calibration and virtual speaker simulation.

Where would I attach these if I only wanted them to be used for monitoring, but not used in the rendered sound effects pipeline?

The documentation wasn't clear enough on this. At least I couldn't find it. Perhaps somewhere in the main bus effects or aux?

Thanks.

Never mind. I think I can do this for all Windows programs by creating a virtual sound card (virtual audio cable) as the default system sound card in Windows and then routing it to a VST host that's output is connected to the actual sound card.
