Different types of noise

PostTue Mar 13, 2018 7:23 am

Hi guys

I'm wondering if anyone ever tried to achieve different types of noises with Fusion.

When I'm using Cinema 4D I have about 32 different types of noises. These differ in type of math behind them AFAIK.

Do you know any tips and tricks on combining multiple fast noises to achieve different noise looks?

There is at least a fuse for voronoi noises available

For others a custom tool could be enough or someone need to create a fuse for that

The 4th in first row is probably just a scale down and then up again of a fast noise

MT_FractalBlocks is available in Reactor, which mimics much of the function of AE's Blocky style Fractal Noise. The MT_Voronoi Fuse is… well, it needs some work. I'm probably about six hours away from having a satisfactory static Worley (sometimes known as Cellular) field, 8 - 12 hours from reasonable animation of both the Voronoi and Worley (they're the same algorithm, just different rendering methods) fields. The trouble is finding those hours, particularly since the Version Control script is a little higher priority.

If you have CustomShader3D, there's been some work on bringing ShaderToy code into Fusion. Keep an eye out at Steakunderwater for more of that in the near future, I think.

Other projects for the intermediate future include the Diamond-Square algorithm and Wood/Marble, both of which are fairly simple. I'd also like to implement some variants on the Game of Life. I'm not sure if that would be useful as a noise generator or not, but it would at least be an interesting exercise.

Of course, if any other Fuse writer wants to tackle any of those first, I'd be quite happy about it!

Thanks guys!
I'll have a look at the ones mentioned.

I thought the methods of achieving those noises are far easier, but I can see some high mathematics is involved :)

Fast noise is very usefull in most cases but sometimes it's not enough..
Maybe in Fusion v24.0 we'll see some new noises from Blackmagic ;)

Hi June. I just bought your fractal noise fuse but I get an error on use

Any idea? Using DR 16beta

OpenCL fuses don't work in Resolve.

Also, I do not think there is support yet for F16. when the SDK is release June will be able to update all the plug-ins.

Oh that's a shame.

Does the Custom Shader 3d Plugin work in Resolve?
