Hyperdeck Shuttle Rec Flag

PostSat Sep 08, 2012 3:08 am

Could someone PLEASE post the contents of the sdi ancillary packet for ANY of the record start/stop flag that the Hyperdeck Shuttle supports? I have tried the Sony PMW-F3 and the Arri Alexa and niether of them work (but they both work on the PIX240). The option is enabled in the configuration utility, and it is in record mode (as opposed to playback mode), and if the buttons are pressed it will start and stop recording - but the flag won't trigger anything. I can insert any ancillary packet on the HANC of any line at will, but I need to know what the contents need to be.

To answer my own question, in case anybody else needs this info. The flag is the MSB of Binary Group 1 in the timecode ancillary packet, on line 10. All the other bits in all the other binary groups can be zero, and DBB1 (see smpte RP188) is all zeros. 1 to trigger recorder, 0 to stop it. Unfortunately, it has to be in record mode, because in playback mode the flag is ignored.

hi apalopohapa,

I am a newbie to program the blackmagic decklink sdi card. The SDK documents well about the vanc data, there is an api to receive the vanc data buffer namely, GetBufferForVerticalBlankingLine(). Can you please elaborate how to get the HANC data buffer?
I would be very grateful to get your answer.

Thanks

Hi bk_pasa. I just saw your post... 4 years later. But hey, no question should remain unanswered. I wasn't using the decklink, I was generating the HD-SDI stream in an FPGA, and wanted the Shuttle to start recording without having to press the record button.
