Go into Resolve Preferences - System - Audio Plugins. Uncheck ALL the VST related plugins, save the preferences and restart Resolve.
Did that take care of the issue?
Dwaine, I could kiss you!
But don't worry, I won't.
That didn't initially solve the problem, but it might circumvent it or lead me to a solution. In the project I'm working on, it still crashes if I try to do anything with timelines. But I think it's because some VST plugins are still nested in there.
The project opens to the master timeline, and I can't open the timeline that has audio effects to see if I can remove them or if that's a factor at all because I can't open timelines. I had VST effects applied in an audio-only timeline and I can't get in there to try removing them.
I created a new project to see how far I can get without any audio plugins instantiated or enabled, and the problems are gone so far. I really think you are onto something. I will see how long it runs smoothly with plugins disabled and if the crash doesn't reappear, I'll try enabling and then instantiating each plugin one by one until I find the culprit.
If the problem reappears without VSTs enabled, I will report back. Until then, thank you all once again for helping me out! Point me to your "buy these guys a beer" button and I will gladly click, hahaha.
