What lens to Emulate the effect of canon 14mm in 5dmk3?

PostTue Mar 26, 2013 12:09 am

I tried the canon ef 14mm rectilinear in our BMCC and somehow the ultra wide effect that i love doin especially using the glider or the cinematic effect in the slider.

What lens should i buy to emulate or imitate that effect using our BMCC considering the 2.3 crop factor. Thanks.

I assume one of those 'bmcc's should be '5dmk3'?

Comes out at 6mm. Closest you'll get to work with an EF mount BMCC is likely the Sigma 8mm f3.5.

The closest you're going to get with the BMCC is the Sigma 8-16mm at 8mm. It's rectilinear as well.

Are you sure you want a fish-eye? As stated above the Sigma 8-16 is rectangular, has the same aperture
(f.3.5 and t3.8) and it covers quite a useful range of focal lengths, at least for me.

Sorry if I sound sapient!

The Rokinon 8mm is a ultra wide angle (Fisheye) so not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for. The Sigma is probably the widest without distortion.

This is the best comparison I've seen.

Hey thanks for stating this out. After reading the test bu marco solario, i think sigma is the right lens for me. I find it almost the same output though irs not a fast lens compare to our 14mm rectilinear. Thanks again.
