Hi !

Can someone explain how fusion versions "free" & "studio" will be integrated into dr 15 ?
as I know there is davinci free and studio versions , free davinci gonna have fusion free toolset , but davinci 15 studio version will ship with full fusion studio toolset , right ?

Is fusion canceled as a standalone app ?

”When I asked whether Fusion was end of life as a standalone product, Blackmagic USA President Dan May clarified. Resolve 15 will not include the entire feature set of Fusion. Rather, as Dan put it, Fusion will contain a superset of Resolve 15 Fusion functionality. Fusion, then, will continue as a standalone product both in its paid and free versions”

mm .. too bad , I thought it would end up to 3 distinct versions of resolve
something like , resolve free , resolve studio , resolve ultimate
and in one of them (resolve ultimate) we will be able to use full set of fusion tools in davinci

I find this guide amazing!!! Much better than read the manual to search for new stuff. However I don't find anything about your ACES implementation as I'm trying it does work slightly different( The LUT tab, no ACES IDT selection on color tab?)

Hello Peter:

Did BMD forget iMac 5K 2017 with Radeon Pro 580 8GB in the configuration guide?

What about processors for the iMac Pro? It seems that it doesn't matter. :?:

Kind regards.

Suggestens to Resolve 15 Configuration Guide.

PostMon Apr 16, 2018 5:21 pm

Hi.

On the lower half of page 19 is tre different laptops descriped in plain text:

For both the HP Z Book and the DELL Precision do I read:

'While performance for many applications and UHD resolutions will be limited'

And for the Razor Blade do I read:

'for use with HD media'

On the top half of page 38 is the specifikation for tre different Laptops listed.

But I am missing the above information from page 19:

'While performance for many applications and UHD resolutions will be limited'

'for use with HD media'

I am sorry to say it. But I believe most reading the Configuration Guide page 38 will not understand the limitations for the Laptops printed 19 pages before.

Can I suggest that you make it much clearer.

Next is a small thing.

Please delete from page 44:

'NVIDEA TITAN Xp
12 GB GDDR5X SDRAM
http://www.nvidea.com/ etc.'

The exact same information is allready placed the rigth place on page 43.

The new Resolve 15 Configuration Guide is very nice. Thank you.

Regards Carsten.

Kindly add into the Configuration Guide, helpful details guiding users in the exceedingly limited support of MCU Pro (a.k.a. Mackie Control Universal Pro) MIDI controller, please. Since BMD Marketing announced integration of MCU since Resolve 12.x, and uses images featuring that awesome MIDI surface controller in its promotional material, it would be great if BMD helped customers understand how to configure Resolve for use with it.

Thank you!

I'm having a question about cross licensing between Fusion and Resolve.
As far as I know the Fusion dongle enables access to Resolve 15. Is it going that to be available in the other direction? Resolve dongle to enable access to Fusion Studio?

There are no plans to allow Resolve Studio dongles to access Fusion Studio.

Thanks Peter for the clarification.

In that case, what is the road map for Fusion integration in Resolve? Is it going to be a full integration or just a limited subset?

Another concern is, that if you have a Fusion dongle (same price tag) you can pick whether to work in Fusion or in Resolve, so it might be lighter (as performance/load) to use just Fusion instead to do the same work in Resolve.

I've seen in your latest announcement that recommended RAM for comfortable work is bumped to 64GB. So, right now is cheaper to buy another Fusion dongle than buying extra 32GB of RAM (most probably you'll need a new 64GB kit).

My concern is that sometimes is less painful to use the standalone version than the combo!
Don't get me wrong - I'm happy having Fusion integrated in Resolve, but I'm not sure I understand the grand plan for Resolve/Fusion. It seems that right now, no one should buy Resolve and better go with Fusion dongle?!
