3D tracking

PostMon Apr 01, 2013 3:45 pm

Hi guys,
I need to shot a scene of a face of a guy nodding his head to music.
I then need to 3D track the points on is head (with syntheses) for post-production.
I just tested with a shutter at 45° (25 fps / 800 ASA) but find there is still too much motion blur...
Isn't there a way to get a sharper image??

Thanks

Not with the current firmware. Plus, RS might cause some problems too.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

This is really bad news...
Now I've got the extra quality that my 7D was lacking, but I can't shoot with a high enough shutter speed...

I have never used SynthEyes but have you tried After Effects? Their basic tracking tools can be manually adjusted frame by frame. So you could let it do it's thing and if it gets off then just move the tracking point accordingly.

After effects doesn't do geometry tracking, only point and camera. You use SynthEyes when you need to track simple to complex 3D geometry. Used it last year for a cable commercial, and it seemed to handle motion blur of a cube just fine with a little fine tuning.

Yes, Syntheyes handles motion blur "to a certain point", but as I have about 9 minutes of motion tracking to do I need to avoid manual reposition of trackers each 10 frames or so...

Don't know if you've actually tried SynthEyes, but if you used the full 2400x1350 DNG resolution, your results might be a lot tighter than you expect.

Did you see the test I posted? Please ignore the bad roto...

Few ideas for tracking nigntmares:
-track a b/w or super contrasted version of your clip
-manually place "markers" (like a red dot) frame by frame where you want your roto and track those
-use matchmover or cameratracker...
