Resolve 15.3 unknown crash. Can't save project.

PostFri May 18, 2018 2:09 am

I recently downloaded Resolve 15.3 thinking a lot of bugs must be gone by now but I have discovered that it keeps freezing for no apparent reason.
I lose space bar playback and I can't save or save as. I have to close the project and lose whatever work I have just done.

Anyone else have this problem?

I am running a Macbook Pro on Sierra 10.12.6
Processor: 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
Graphics: Radeon Pro 460 4096 MB
Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB

Runs pretty well here on an even weaker MBP (only 2 GB VRAM).
But you understand it's still an early beta, right?
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

I'm having the same issue:

27" iMac (2017)
4.2GHz i7
24GB RAM
Radeon Pro 580 8GB
500GB SSD

Also, all the files are stored on a RAID.

Not having this issue on my MacBook Pro which still has 15b2.

Yes, but I thought by 15.3 it wouldn't just hang for no apparent reason and make me lose work. Everything else works I just can't save or playback the timeline.

I am experiencing the same issue, but it's even more twisted: projects cannot be saved, which is not a problem, as autosave does the trick, but it is impossible to get out of a project, or close Resolve without choosing "don't save". Also, playback works at the beginning and then it is lost after doing any edits.

I rolled back to 15.2, which was fine before, but the behavior has persisted.

I've had a couple of projects go flaky on me since moving to 15. Usually clearing out the Resolve cache and any optimized media puts things back into working order. Not at all good for performance, but at least Resolve stops crashing every 3 clicks.

Same here. Sometimes no playback, no color correction updated in the viewer and no way to save.
Back to Beta 2.

I received an email from tech support. The tech stated that this could be related to an illegal character in one of the drives names. No illegal characters in drive names on my system, however. I imagine, on MBP you are using just one drive, am I right?
Beta2 seems to be working fine.

I solved the problem. It was due to resolve not being able to find my project backup location as it was pointing to an offline HDD. Just redirect to a HDD you are using and this should fix the problem.

I've had this issue before, and indeed it was the naming issue. Somehow after a thunderbolt connected external drive used as one of my media sources froze, and something's got corrupted. Even though the name of the drive looked fine, the problem had gone away after I had renamed the volume.
