Fan noise

PostWed Apr 03, 2013 1:57 am

Hoho,

cameras´ working almost flawless but I think the fan is broken. It´s way too loud and is picked up by a boom mic severel meters away. You can even hear the camera from another room.

I uploaded a wav file from a raw recording
http://www.kameraverleih-karlsruhe.de/s ... nnoise.wav

Internal mic is set to the standard 50%.

Can BMD just send a replacement fan? I already had a look at the fan (oddly shaped and glued in...) so it´s no problem for me to exchange it.

Wow! yeah that has way to much noise, I would ask for replacement fan ASAP.
I own 2 BMC's now and both have fans that are extremely quiet in comparison.

I just sent a mail to info-euro@blackmagicdesign.com
I hope this is the right support adress as I´m in Germany.

I´m a little scared that they might want to exchange the camera and I don´t want that at all because it has no other flaws, no hot/dead pixels, no rolling noise, just perfect.

The fan is "USER REPLACEABLE" no need to send the camera back just yet

Instructions on how to replace the BMCC fan are on page #52 in the user manual.

So that's not a normal amount of fan noise from it? I just assumed it was due to the internal microphone being placed too close to the fan and have been dealing with it this whole time...
