Tripod for Ursa Mini

PostTue Jun 12, 2018 6:17 pm

Just picked up a Manfrotto 509HD/536 carbon legs combo and it's horrible! Doesn't balance properly around the level position, and is quite jerky and stiff. Maybe it would loosen up with time, but really not a fan so far and thinking of sending it back. What other options are there if one's budget can't stretch to Sachtler 18 or Oconnor 1030? Anyone here heard of Seeder?

I have the Sirui BCH-30 head and BCT-3203 tripod. Great value and built quality. I'd say the BCH-30 is similar to the Sachtler S18 head, with the same weaknesses (like it could have even more stiffer drag, counter balance could be more fine tuneable)

Tripod comes with mid and floor spreader, and a bag. Head has 7 grades of drag h/v, 13 Levels of counter balance, 18kg (39.7 lb) payload, Illuminated Bubble Level and second top bubble level, Dual telescoping handles

I had no problems with the head when filming in the mountains at -15° C
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

I am very pleased with my Miller Compass Solo DV alloy tripod. That model has been discontinued, but the Miller Compass Solo DV carbon fiber system appears to be similar on carbon sticks for a similar price.

I’m quite happy with a Benro (www.benrousa.com).

I'm working With Manfrotto 509 for several years now, starting with canon DSLR, then BMCC and now URSA Mini... Works absolutely fine!
Just be sure you release the lock and lower the resistance if it's set too hard...

Sachtler Flowtech 75 with FSB 8 fluid head and side load plate has been working well for Ursa Mini Pro.
