SSD PHISICAL SUPPORT FOR THE NEW BMPCC4K

PostWed Jun 13, 2018 6:33 am

as it'll be possible to use SSD USB-C drives to record videos from the new camera I DO THINK that BMD have to add some kind of "phisical" addon to the accessories line for BMPPC4K as it seems to me a pity to imagine the drive connected to the camera with the cable BUT not in some way attached to it in a simple and solid way.
Why leave to second parts the task to solve this simple but essenstial problem?
How can I use the SSD with the camera if I have not some kind of support to fix the box within the camera body?
Which is your opinion? which is the opinion of BMD?

Great but dont you think that it is better to have a BMD addon rather then the use of a 3D printer not that easy to me....

Francesco, the new Pocket camera is using USB-C drives, which are smaller solid state devices, more like a big USB thumb drive. They are not the larger SSD drives used on the Ursa Mini SSD drive unit. A simple bracket can be sued to attach one, as can simple Velcro pads. The problem is these drives come in different sizes and shapes, like the USB thumb drives, so making a “standard” attachment bracket will not work very well.

This has been discussed many times and the answer has always been the same.

Get a mobile phone mounting bracket like the one from Manfrotto. Reliable and very cheap. Screws right on to the top of the camera and clamps the SSD down. Adjustable to fit any size SSD with rubber grips to hold it in place.

You'll then want some sort of camera cage to insure that the USB-C connector doesn't get unplugged and hold it in place so it doesn't get damaged during use.
