Micro Converter Color Shift Problem

PostFri Jul 13, 2018 10:42 pm

We have a HDMI to SDI Micro Converter connected to the HDMI output of the Windows 10 PC which is running 1920x1080 60 hz resolution. It is connected to a SDI to HDMI Micro Converter using a 30 ft length of RG-59 with BNC connectors. The HDMI output of the Micro Converter is connected to the HDMI input of a LCD display. When we turn on the PC and it finishes booting the LCD display has a red tint/overlay to it. If we unplug the SDI cable and wait for the display to tell us that there is not a video source connected and then plug the SDI cable back in the color of the display returns to normal. This is a windows 10 desktop with a black background. The micro converters have been updated to the most recent version of the firmware. It has done this with two different HDMI to SDI mini converters. Is this a defective SDI to HDMI converter? Is this a known problem? Or is this normal?

Thank you,
Stuart

Try a different monitor. Never heard of this issue before. It seems the monitor is renegotiating the hdmi when signal comes back online.

See if the issue persist when you put a different brand monitor to it.

It is not the laptop Side (hdmi to sdi) Because if it was the problem would persist when you Unplug and replay the sdi.

Sdi is 1 way traffic. So the hdmi to Sdi converter doesnt know if and what type of converter is located at the output. If 1 at all. So the problem is with your screen or sdi to hdmi converter

Get rid of the RG59 cable. Use Belden 1694A cable has higher bandwidth and is made for HDMI / SDI.

I agree with Arawan, RG59 is low bandwidth SD cable, an is on,y good for up to 6-feet with 3G SDI/ HDMI transmission. Your 30-foot run is probably causing the color shifts. Another goos 3/6G SDI cable is Canare L-4CFB, Compact dimensions (RG-59 size, similar to Belden 1505A) for low weight and good flexibility. I used this for Studio runs 39 to 50-feet, works well.
