Triggering a HyperDeck Studio Mini as a playback device

PostTue Jul 24, 2018 2:53 am

Ok.. I have a new live production chain in mind:

1 Three Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4k.
2 SDI to and fro cameras.
3 ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K.
4a ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel.
4b HyperDeck Studio Pro/HyperDeck Studio Mini.

I watched the Grant video "What's New in Blackmagic ATEM Update 6.8 Update", and he talked about the HyperDeck Studio Pro as a playback deck that can trigger clips by taking the deck as a source (for credit rolls and roll in packages etc..). My question is can the HyperDeck Studio Mini be controlled in the same manner?

Thanks,

Rick

Yes. You can map up to 4 of any type of the rack or minu units to an atem input and enable the auto cue to play as soon as the input is selected.

Grant shows the HyperDeck attaching to the switcher visa the Ethernet connection. Since there is only one connection how do you hook up 3 more decks, (not that I need to) but more importantly the ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K which also uses the Ethernet connection on the switcher. Another concern I have is streaming my program output, again no Ethernet port. Does it need some sort of a hub?

Thanks,

Hi,
Use an Ethernet Switch. All devices plug into this. You have to give each device a unique IP address in the same subnet.
The default ATEM IP address is 192.168.10.240 So you would make your Hyperdecks .241, .242, etc.
If the network that your laptop is on uses a different IP address range (or DHCP) then you may need to change your ATEM to match this.
In the ATEM software control panel, you enter the IP address of up to 4 Hyperdecks so that the ATEM can control them.

Hi! Please could you recommend a reliable Ethernet switch to connect multiple devices (ATEM 1 M/E, HYPERDECK STUDIO MINI'S. ADVANCED PANEL etc)? Ideally, I would like Switcher to provide PoE too.
