This website - 90px 6k avatars? Really? Is it 1992?

PostSat Aug 04, 2018 2:31 am

I thought I'd quickly upload an avatar to this site... then I found out the requirements are 90x90px and a MAXIMUM size of 6k.

Is Blackmagic under the impression we're all using 1200 baud modems? Or is this site being run on an IBM PC XT with 512k of memory?

I think I had a bigger avatar on a local BBS run on a Commodore 64 back in the 80's!

Well saving bandspace isn't bad right.. When loading a topic with 20 avatars all in the size of 200Kb. Then you are loading 4mb only for avatars.... :?

Not very nice if you try to load this on your phone.

But to be clear.. This is the standard of PHPBB Not from Blackmagic..

It just brought me back to the days when everyone was on usenet newsgroups and invariably there was someone who had to police everyone's signatures. If it was more than a certain number of lines or a certain number of characters, it would take down the internet!

After working with very little sleep, finding that Resolve has had problems with not having a decent FCurve editor for years with no change in sight --- you can keyframe OpenFX in the timeline but can't access any curves--- you can change the curve on a zoom, but not on a transform, unless you right-click on the transform gizmo (a clunky thing designed when avatars were 90px and 6k) that sits over the top of the keyframes and select between two options - but still don't get bezier handles to work with.... I thought I'd at least take a sec and update my avatar.

I need some sleep!

OMG! That's it... I'm selling my Fusion dongle and uninstalling Resolve from my system. I don't care how good the software is (and it *is* good), I can't be associated with any company which would only allow 90px-square avatars on their support forum.

Disgraceful!!

That is also the reason that BMD puts 6 languages into 1 Manual.. Making the avarage PDF manual about 1200 pages big and somewere north of 100Mb each..
