Raw import naming issue

PostFri Aug 10, 2018 8:49 am

Hi, I’m trying to import Raw footage from an ursa mini. The footage has imported with the number of frames appended to the name of each clip. Is there a way to stop this? It doesn’t seem to happen on my old mac, and it’s causing headaches with proxies. I know I can reconfrom using loose naming, but I’d love to also solve it properly. Thanks for any advice!

Jacob, could you type out the complete folder name of a clip or better do a capture of some of the clip folder names from the Finder?

When you say URSA Mini, which model do you mean? URSA Mini 4K, 4.6K, Pro?

This is how clips are being named on import;

A001_08091539_C001_[000000-123456].dng

Previously the clips weren't appended by davinci (so the name would be A001_08091539_C001 for instance).

I'm seeing the same with clips from the Pocket.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I’ve always seen the shorter name on my raw clip folder using the Mac Finder. Inside Resolve are the Finder name plus the range of files within a folder that show . I can’t check now, doing an all night render.

I just double checked, can't see that here: RKS-120717-B_1_2018-08-12_1230_C0001.mov
That's ID of the camera, date and time, but no frames.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

If it is a DNG sequence then that is normal. It is showing you the filename and the numbered frames found in that sequence.

Sorry, I overlooked that, yes, it is true for RAW.
No big thing, since you can use the functions to derive information for the clip name from metadata to your liking (clip name in 15 used to be display name before).
