Doses DeckLink Mini 4K Monitor support 12bit RGB 1080p 24?

PostThu Oct 11, 2018 8:36 am

Hi,

I have a "DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K" card.

And I want to use it output 12Bit RGB 444 1080p 24fps to a X300 monitor.

I modified the Sample "TestPattern" in the BM release SDK.

But the result shows not correct.

My question is whether "DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K" support 12Bit RGB 444 output?

Even if I set the output to 10Bit RGB444, then I set the X300 input format is RGB10bit 444, the display is black, but I set the X300 input format to YCbCr422 10 bit, the display is correct.
The 3G-SDI can't support RGB444?

I read the spec of "DeckLink Mini 4K Monitor" carefully.

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/decklink/techspecs/W-DLK-32

In the "Connection" it said that
SDI Video Outputs
1 x 10 bit SD/HD/Ultra HD switchable.

But in the "Video Standards" it said that
SDI Color Precision
8, 10, 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 in all modes up to 1080p60, and 8, 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all modes.

I am confused. Whether this card support 12 bit?

Hey folks,

I'm also fighting with the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K and 12 bit RGB currently but just fixed the bug while looking at my code when writting this. I can say: It works.

There are two small tools I play with using the DeckLink SDK to output video via SDI and on both I have different formats implemented, one of them being bmdFormat12BitRGBLE for 12 bit and I get output to the VideoAssist 4K I have currently on my desk. Tested with 1080p24 and 1080p60 and the image looks right.

PS: And normally 3G-SDI should be enough for at least 10 bit RGB (not sure about the frame rate, but I think it was 2K p30 with RGB12 that was too much for 3G but 24/25 worked afair). A fast Google search brought me this: https://wolfcrow.com/blog/what-is-6g-sdi/
