Feature request Frame.IO support

PostTue Nov 15, 2016 5:06 pm

Dear Blackmagic design,

I spoke to the people at FrameIO and asked if they would be supporting Davinci Resolve, and they said they were willing to, but also explained that it was up to Blackmagic Design to make the Api connection possible.

So I would official like to put in a feature request for Frame.IO connectivity

I only just worked on Frame.IO for the first time and I have to say that integrating it into Resolve sounds pretty awesome. But I'd rather import/export marker lists (and I'm not sure if that's possible) than have an external API 'mess' with my project.

I like & use Frame.IO and have turned my clients onto it. Not a high priority but it would be a nice option.
I second the suggestion.

Personally, I am more a Wipster.io kind of guy.

So maybe an import/export marker list is the way to go.

Ditto.

I use Frame.io extensively. Some form of direct integration would be wonderful. Frame.io’s extension in Premiere Pro is clunky, but I’m sure Adobe’s API is as buggy and run-down as the rest of Premiere’s code base. Frame.io’s minimalist sensibilities would be a better fit for Blackmagic as well.

Here’s a recent, glowing article about DaVinci Resolve right on the Frame.io blog: https://blog.frame.io/2017/09/06/davinci-resolve-may-be-most-powerful/

An overture to Blackmagic, perhaps?
No, you probably don’t need a calibrated, non-computer display.

Gee, I use Frame.io just about every week and I just render a ProRes LT file from Resolve and upload it to Frame.io via the website. I don't need anything more automatic than that. Besides, I generally have multiple versions and passwords and different kinds of access, so I don't think it can be done directly without some human intervention. It's fine the way it is (to me).

Resolve cries for nice API - this opens a world of totally different possibilities.
Even Autodesk realised this and added Python hooks into Flame, which started to be so outdated.
Exporting clip and uploading to frame.io has not much to do with API- this is just most basic thing which you can do.

Thumbs up for an integration. But not only for export, but also for the import / selection of bins, as it is seen with Premiere. I think the layout of Resolve should make those implementations easy and powerful.

+1 for the FrameIO integration.
Resolve 15 would be almost complete with it.

Hey

With Resolves new scripting api and also Frame.io's new api, i've started writing a python script for comment import.

I'm currently adding a simple GUI to it for project/asset selection on Frame so the comments can be linked to the correct timeline.

This will also support csv comment imports, so use of the Frame.io API is not required.

I'm a mac user, so if any windows users would be interested in testing once an initial version is ready let me know.

Cheers

I'd be happy to test it as well. I've been using frameio for at least 2 years and that connection with Resolve is really missing.
Cheers.

Hey

Started to use Frame IO with Resolve, working great but I do have a feature request. Its a bigger one (If this is already been done then please send me details on how etc) What I would like is to be able to manage the files using the Media Window inside Davinci. So using your gui to control the folder structure so it all matches & all teh comments etc that are made on all the videos sync with resolve.. Would be a great feature..
