Live broadcast to YouTube

PostWed Dec 05, 2018 11:27 pm

Good evening,

I own a Blackmagic Atem Television Pro HD.
I'm looking for a solution to broadcast the live stream via a PC. Should I buy an SDI to USB converter or can I use a solution that does not require any additional hardware, such as using Ethernet ?

Thank you and good evening

The ATEM Television Studio HD models do not have the ability to take video out over USB or Ethernet. USB is for configuration and Ethernet is for control purposes. What it sounds like you need is a capture device to take the content to a computer. There are the DeckLink PCIe cards that will connect to a desktop computer or, you can look into the Thunderbolt UltraStudio product family line.

Or do I need something like a Web Presenter ?

I am sorry, I am totally a novice in this domain.
I found many DeckLink PCIe cards but without USB output.

Thak you for your help, it is very difficult for me to understand.

If you want USB capture your only BM choice is the Web presenter.
There's the USB shuttle model from a few yrs back, but I'd forget that one.
Actually I wouldn't personally recommend a WP either imp it's still too ' buggy' to be a pro choice.

If ur happy to consider something that isn't BMD, go with a magewell sdi usb3 device, or a Aja U-tap.
Better still, forget streaming solutions that rely on PC's and software and look into
using dedicated hardware streamers.

As long as ur audio is embedded in the SDI feed
Yeah, it will.

If you route audio externally? ie not into the Atem.
You'll need to run that into an embedder first.

I use an audio console which I will plug onto the Atem.
