Dynamic zoom and HiRes stills - dynamic zoom overlay unusabl

PostFri Dec 07, 2018 9:34 am

I'm trying to master the dynamic zoom (DZ) overlays with HiRes stills (image size in pixels is far bigger than timeline resolution).

My workflow is:
1. Bring the still into timeline (auto scale is set to crop). The central small part of image covers the timeline frame
2. use zoom control to bring the full image into frame
3. switch to Dynamic Zoom overlay - and I see unzoomed still with DZ frames around the original unscaled image and in the form of the image (I would expect them to take the form of the timeline frame).

I can't understand how to work with DZ zoom control frames in this setup

What did I do wrong?

Skip Step 2.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I tried that many times. It doesn't help. 90% of the source image is cropped and I can't see the details I want to zoom into.
I understand that I can make the green frame larger to achieve the required zoom-out to fit my still to the frame, but I have to do it by trial and error as I don't see the image I work with.
