Recording live video with DeckLink

PostWed Dec 05, 2018 5:31 pm

Hi
I have DeckLink HD Extreme 3D
And I need to capture pictures from PS4
I connected my console via HDMI out to one of 2 HDMI port on my Decklinck card
I used FCPX and Desktop Video latest version
FCPX couldn't recognize it as a camera that I could capture my video with that
I used Media Express and there was not any audio or video to record or preview
can you help me how can I capture any video with that card
basically are those HDMI ports works as input?

Much appreciated

Doing a Google image search, this diagram might be able to help you sort out the connections of the device.

As for the formats supported by the device and why you are not seeing a signal in Media Express, check the output from the PS4 and make sure it matches those formats supported by the card.

Thanks for your reply
Do you know why input-HDMI is ( - ) empty in the setting?

All formats are supported
720p
1080p
1080i
but there is no luck :(

Based on that image, what you have sent to the card is not supported otherwise it should show what signal it is receiving. This could be due to HDCP being enabled on the PS4.

I'm pretty sure the PS is using HDCP all the time. Live video would come from a camera ;-)
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Thanks, both of you
I turned HDCP off
and I set ps4 output to 720 and 1080p and 1080i but I haven't revised any signal again
Basically, do you know how can I check and test my BM HDMI input?
and what is the workflow to set this card to record from any non-camera source?
I don't have a camera at home but I can use MacPro-macbookpro- or any devices like BD player
any suggestion?

I connected pc and Mac via HDMI directly to both HDMI ports on the Blackmagic card
But still I don't have picture and on Desktop Video Setup application shows me dash - for Video input :(
What should I do? how can test those HDMI ports on the card?
Are sure we can use them as an input?
Actually I checked that as an output and it doesn't work either

That seems like it's dead then.
I can get video from my HDMI on a MacBook Pro into a DeckLink (the oldest one) just fine.

Thanks
So Could you use both HDMI ports on the card as input?
Have you set anything on Desktop Video? or media express? for input or output? is it important which resolution you are using on mac?
Could you kindly upload your setting here, please?

That old card has only one input, and the Mac needs to be set to HDTV. Of course, I need to set the card with Media Express to the same parameters as the Mac.

For Nintendo SW we need to set media express to 1080P
but for ps4 and xbox it needs to be set on 1080P 59.94
I dont know why but it was one of my problems
