It is not that simple, Sony ca eras do not record ProRes or Raw codecs internally, so do not require a high bandwidth recording media, it is more than just base speed. The Pocket/VA needs a much higher bandwidth recording media, at a minimum of 95MBs, the Sony does not. Why do you think Atomos is still using SSDs in their Ninja/Shogun Monitor recorders, it’s more reliable.
Having to depend on a few SD cards for recording, is why I sold my VA, and got the PixE with its more reliable recording media, that was available in decent capacity, to record long events. SD cards are too unpredictable in their performance, and reliability for me, and this current issue with SanDisk, the major SD card source for the VA and BM SD cameras, proves this point.
SD cards are really a consumer market device, not a professional recording media. Wedding photographers wound use a SD camera without two slots, so they can have an instant backup, that’s how much they trust SD cards.
