MicroConverter BiDirectional

PostWed Jan 09, 2019 9:28 pm

I am setting up a live streaming package and have a question. This is the equipment we just purchased.
HP ZBook 15, Akito Node Lite with a DeckLink Duo 2, 2- MicroConverter Bidirectional SDI/HDMI. The main camera we will be using is a Canon C100 v.1. We use Livestream Studio through a Vimeo Premium Livestreaming account. I have done the installation of the latest Desktop Video software and the Converters software. When I start the BlackMagic Converters software, it says No Converters Found. The camera is on and plugged into the MicroConverter HDMI input. The MicroConverter SDI output is connected to the DeckLink and the DeckLink is connected via Firewire 3 to the PC.

Any suggestions?

You do not need the software to operate the Microconverter Bidirectional.

Just power it by USB and LED's on the converter should indicate that you have signal and lock.

You say Firewire 3?? But i guess you mean Thunderbolt 3 ?! ;)

Yes, Thunderbolt 3. My mistake. The LED on the MicroConverter is on when the camera is plugged in to the HDMI Input. I see the DeckLink on my computer, but do not see the camera.

What application(s) have you tested to see if the signal is being ingested to the DeckLink? Did you test with Media Express under log and capture and see content there? Also, do you have other applications open that may be seeing the device as a source because this could conflict with signal detection.

I do not see the camera in Media Express Log and Capture window. Nothing else is open. The connection is...
- C100 HDMI output into MicroConverter Bidirectional HDMI input (none of our cameras have SDI outputs.)
-MicroConverter Bidirectional SDI output into the DeckLink (1, I think, although I have tried them all)
-The Akitio PCIe Node Lite connected to the PC via Thunderbolt 3

The Akitio Node Lite shows in the Thunderbolt port and the DeckLink channels show up in the Devices list in Windows. Also, Media Express devices show four DeckLink channels.

Quite stumped.

Hello Kirk. If you want to test the micro converter alone, simply loop the SDI Out to In and connect the HDMI out to a monitor. That should help there. Also make sure your HDMI cables are short.

That works. So it must be something in the setup of the DeckLink.
