Pocket 4K in the cold overnight

Hey all. I lent my Pocket to a friend who left it in his car overnight (in very cold temperatures). It seems to work fine, however I notice it takes longer to start up now than it did before.

Should I be worried? I know electronics can slow down in the cold but this is after 12 hours of "recovery time" in my warm house.

How long does your Pocket typically take to start?

It takes just long enough that it worries me every time. "Is it gonna come on, is it? Phew! It came on."

Glad the camera survived. Were your lenses alright?

Hope your friend doesn’t want to borrow your dog next time!

How cold is cold?

I'm pretty sure your equipment is fine. As long as it didn't rain on it too. Many camera's are on box (camera) trucks on commercial/shows and I've worked on many where we don't have heat in the back. Might take an extra minute to let the camera warm up. I've always turned cameras on for a bit before filming. Normally during the camera build to let the sensor heat up to proper temp before filming.

It was about 4º F last night. I did recharge the battery but not fully.

It takes about 4 seconds to start the camera. I'm not sure how long it was when I first got it, but I feel like it was distinctively less.

No, mine also takes around 4 seconds to start and it has been always like this.

Ditto to that. Around 4 seconds.

3-4 seconds sounds right.

Mine too 4-5 seconds and stay many times under temperature in a car, during my travels, during stop and more.
The problems of low temperature are about
- battery go down
- you must fight with condensate
- when you move to warm place you risk some electric damage if you turn on too much fast

From years I move cameras and photo from cold to warm places, some attention, not hurry to turn on camera and silicon gels to avoid condensate.

I wait hours before powering a very cold camera. But when I have the battery capacity, I don’t turn off the camera until I get home so the camera doesn’t get cold after a shoot.
