From your test, its clear you will need the Studio version for some files to be decoded.

There are many codec variants used in the MXF/QT container and we do what we can to support them. However for some of these clips, I can confirm you are going to need the Studio version if using v15. I don't expect this will change anytime soon.

I understand supporting all variants is challenging but it's harder to understand why previously supported 8-bit MXF/QT container variants in earlier free versions of Resolve would not be supported in Resolve 15 free.

It's some consolation that the test file I sent Dwaine works in Resolve 15 Studio but I can't justify buying Studio when it will be included in the new BMPC 4K I pre-ordered. Until then (hopefully Fall as stated at NAB), I'm back to FCP which natively supports the JVC LS-300 without conversion to MXF.

Guessing it's too much to ask for native support for the LS-300 for the same reasons you mentioned

I have the same problem with consumer camera files, such as UHD 24fps footage from a Sony RX10 MkIII and a DJI Phantom 4 Pro 2.0 drone. Both files are 8-bit. All the consumer media I've tried to load shows as "offline".

No problems with 10-bit XAVC and Prores from my Sony FS7's and Shogun Inferno recorders.

Seems that DaVinci only supports Hollywood movie studio formats.

Even in high-end formats, for at least twenty years I've seen camera manufacturers shelling out new formats faster than NLEs can implement them. Sony, Canon and Panasonic are trying hard to develop something new, different and consequently incompatible. Drone makers are even worse.

Somebody remember how long it took Avid to implement some widely used camera formats?

Has this issue now been resolved? I am considering purchasing a Canon XC15 but am hesitnt if I cannot uses Resolve to edit the files. Thanks

Can't say for sure without a sample. Will likely need the Resolve 15 Studio version though.

I cannot send a sample as I am deciding which model to buy. I prefer the XC15 but am concerned I will have issues with the MXF format. Are you saying that the full orice Resolve 15 software will definitely be compatible with these files or is it still not confirmed?

I guess I have the same problem. I cannot see my MXF files, slow-motion 60 fps, filmed with SONY PXW-Z90V. I used to see these files with Davinci resolve but now as I started a new project and placed files to timeline I can see only Media offline. I can hear the sounds from those files but not any images. I tried to relink files, I downloaded the files to computers SSD and restarted computer and Davinci..

I am a new user for this program so I have no Idea what has happened or how..
I am using quite new Mac book pro and been trying different timeline settings aswell..

Can somebody help me? Thank you already!

It means that unless someone reading the thread has an XC15 and can provide a sample clip to test, that we can't answer the question definitively.

Yes, this is from a Canon XC-15. I can get the firmware version when I get home.

I am using the free Windows version of DV 14 since the free version of DV 15 has not been working for me and the only work around I have is to use version 14.

Hello, I am running 15 studio on a fast enough iMac, and I have the same issue. although not when I first import the clips it's only after I scroll through a shot that it shows up as media offline it also happens to some, not all clips hen I create a timeline from selected clips, (before any have switched their status to media offline.

In the Playback menu, uncheck "Use Optimized Media if Available" and set Render Cache to None, to see if you have an issue with optimized media and/or cache files.

Also update to Resolve 12.5.4.

Well we are in the midst of working for our yearly summer client again and again, like in Davinci 14, 15, and now 16 beta (I thought I would try it); MXF files from the canon C300 Mark I will not reconnect even when I navigate directly to the file and it says "offline". The C300 Mark II files with the same setting work perfectly, but not the Mark I. I am using the studio version of Resolve. This is adding hours to our workflow when we have three editors working on a project.

I brought this up a year ago and it still hasn't been addressed. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Link to drp and log file below.

Another method is to use iDealshare VideoGo to convert MXF to Davinci more supported video format like MP4, AVI, MPG etc

Can I please get some sort of support with MXF files? I've been using Davinci Resolve Studio for years and reconnecting MXF files has NEVER worked. I'm trying to use Resolve for professional, paid, work and it is impossible unless Resolve can recognize MXF files from Canon C300's.

I can see the file in Resolve, I can see the file on my hard drive, and it still says offline.

Rob, can you explain that you mean by "won't reconnect"? That seems to imply that they WERE connected at some point? Is that the case? Or these files just never work in Resolve?

If they were working initially, what happens to make them appear offline?

If they never work, can you provide a link to a sample file that doesn't work?

Why not rewrap into MOV? MP4 is a crappy wrapper with no established standard for TC, for example.

it sad but i think he answered it, we have to have the studio version of davinci in order to edited in 10 bit. now i have to find another software just to edited. this is sad
