Ursa mini 4.6k with both SSD recorder and Hyperdeck. Split?

PostWed Feb 06, 2019 6:15 pm

Hello,

we have and Ursa Mini 4.6k equipped with its onboard SSD recorder, connected on the back to 12G-SDI IN/OUT

Now we have an additional Hyperdeck 12G studio and we need to record simultaneously both to the internal SSD recorder and the Hyperdeck.

We tried to send the SDI out from the BMD to the Hyperdeck and then back from the SDI-out of the Hyperdeck to the SDI-in of the recorder, but the SSD recorder doesn't work.

It seems that there is some extra data/info from the BMD that cannot be properly repeated (or lost in Hyperdeck reprocessing when sending out the signal) and the "internal" SSD recorder doesn't receive the proper signal.

We've think about splitters, but the active ones as the BMD "Miniconverter SDI distribution 4k"

I guess we need to duplicate/split the exact and unmodified signal from the SDI-out of the BMD and I've found a PASSIVE splitter like the LEN L4KS01 4K/12G that seems interesting for a "full" duplication.

Any suggestion to make work this configuration (hyperdeck + working internal SSD recorder)?

Thank you in advance!

When using the SSD recorder, the 12G output on the camera sends a data stream, not a normal 12G-SDI signal. Sorry to say that it can't work as you're suggesting.

Thanks, I understand.

Do you think using a different onboard SSD recorder connected to CFAST as the "Pro CCTECH CFast2.0 To 2.5" Sata3 4T SSD Mount" instead of the BMD SSD recorder will allow to record simultaneously 4k on the CCTECH and the Hyperdeck?

Thank you.

Yes that would work.

The CCTECH uses the CFAST slots to connect to the Ursa so the SDI output will be available for any kind of recorder.

Cheers

That will work, Have the same setup. Because you do not change the settings of the output port for the SSD recorder. You keep your 12G output. ;)
