Decklink 4k mini monitor HDMI sometimes not working

PostFri Feb 15, 2019 12:43 am

I have a Decklink 4k Mini Monitor in an Akitio Node Lite TB3 chassis. I'm trying to connect my NEC PA242W monitor to the Decklink for resolve.

For some reason, the HDMI output works sometimes, and sometimes doesn't, with no change in hardware or settings I can see. I just used it through HDMI all day, but now after a restart it's not working again. SDI works fine to my Small HD field monitor, and through a mini SDI-HDMI converter. But the HDMI just doesn't seem to be outputting anything at all? I haven't changed settings or hardware otherwise.

The same thing happened to me yesterday: at first it worked fine, but then I wound up having to use the SDI-HDMI converter because HDMI would not come back on. Then this morning it worked fine for no reason I can explain.

Any ideas?

Did you try o replace your HDMI cable?

Yeah, tried a couple different cables that are known to work fine out of the laptop's built in port. Looks like I'm doing an RMA.

Support hasn't been able to recreate the issue and want to send it back to me. I requested they try a couple more things but looks like I may be getting a card that does not work for me back.

Sounds like a few other folks wound up getting HDMI out of these cards (that already have an HDMI port that should theoretically work) by going through a teranex or something similar. Is that my only option here? Hoping support finds something so I don't have to spend another $500 on a teranex to get HDMI output from a card that has an HDMI output already.

If the HDMI is not working for you, the SDI to HDMI micro converter is only $60.

I have one of those already but have the 4k decklink cause I wanted to output 4k, so I'd have to get one of the more expensive converters. Looking around more looks like I could use the 6g SDI to HDMI instead of the teranex but that's still $185.
