Hi,

Running DaVinci Resolve 16 Beta on Mojave 10.14.15 beta 2 with AMD Vega.

Setting the graphics card manually to use OpenCL or Metal, enabling GPU Scopes - I see no scopes at all. Turning off GPU Scopes - scopes show.

I had this problem with v15. It was caused by my Corsair headset usb3 connection. When I unplugged it, Resolve launched just fine.

Thanks for replying. I will try to do some further testing when im back home and i'll keep you informed.

I'm having this issue as well. When working in YRGB Color Managed mode, the qualifier shows that it picks the right sample but it is not selected in the frame. Switching to non-color managed YRGB mode fixes the problem.

I've seen another strange behavior when using plugins in a color-managed project, and that is when a plugin is applied to a node it will use the input color space instead of the output color space. So, if I'm working on SLog footage in a Rec709 timeline, the scopes will switch to the original log information when the plugin is applied. So, I'm just not using the color management option for the time being.

Jesus, I could read this topic for ever...

You think they would put out something that was somewhat reliable before giving it to the public.

I guess its a nice way to get people to work for free as beta testers instead of hiring more professionals in house XD

For what it's worth, I don't mind some bugs in an app that is released as a Public Beta; it's the best way for BMD to get real feedback from people who use the software all day, every day. In all honesty, Resolve 16 PB has been rock solid for me except for the one issue I posted about.

one of the big problems for any software company is the shear number of different computer builds that the software may run on. different CPU, MB, GPUs, RAM, OS, driver versions, running/competing software, how people use it, etc etc.

personally I think the BMD public beta system is fantastic. It allows users to try at their own discretion new features and report back bugs, issues, have input to feature changes - and be listened to.

Adobe have no such program, and will actively shut down users that have problems, refuse to admit to bugs or problems, and choose to listen and build on the workflow of a few select bug name pros.

And BMD are doing this at a price point that kills the competition. People just need to understand and respect the word BETA, this is put out in the public in TESTING situation. Embrace it :)

You don't have to downgrade. Just rename the 16 folder into something like Davinci Resolve 16, install 15 alongside and start a new project there.

Using the beta is optional. Personally, I applaud Blackmagic Design for their choice to release DaVinci Resolve in beta. I can start learning the new feature sets on DR16 early, for instance, the new Cut module. For BM it is also valuable, because they can test the software on so many more computers and setups, and in turn get valuable bug reports so their developers can make it as stable as possible before releasing the finished version.

If you need a stable DaVinci Resolve, run the latest v15, or run both. You can use V15 for your critical work, and V16 beta for test footage in order to test the new features.

Thank you BM, have a nice day everyone

Hello, Rohit Singhal, I am not able to get GPU accelerated scopes working on my machine either (see attached log).
DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20190424-004817.zip
(94.08 KiB) Downloaded 35 times

I found out that if I disable GPU Scopes under Preferences and restart Resolve that my scopes do re-appear but only when the new GPU accelerated scopes feature is disabled. I have Two Titan GPU's which should be more than enough horsepower but I have not been able to Get GPU accelerated scopes to work in both dual monitor and single monitor modes, the results are the same. The amber graticules on the scopes are drawing correctly and my nodes are behaving correctly when grading however I am missing the waveform, vector, parade, Histogram and colorspace traces on the scopes which are not showing up at all.

I actively use the scopes on all my color grading so I am disabling the GPU accelerated scopes on my machine until this issue is fixed.

Thank You

1.Exporting clips to ProRes will produce some clips that are unreadable by the system (of final cut etc..)
2. Some Delivery Jobs will get stuck.
3. Audio Sync clips with waveforms - very bad. (final cut will do the same sync with no problem).
Same with multicam sync with audio 2 cams and external audio - not reliable.
4. cut page - source tape - marking in and out and append to end - on some bins it decides to append a whole different in and out of a clip... on some bins it works fine. On others it really is not reliable.
Cut page lucks many keyboard shortcuts.
5. importing xml from final cut - error message (xml 1.8, 1.7 etc..).
6. exporting xml to final cut with prores render - stuck.

Using Imac pro 8 core.

When dragging out Fade handles for clips in the edit page, the length of the fades don't get drawn/shaded on the clip.

Switched pages, restarted, doesn't draw the fades.

Another bug: Noise reduction efforts, regardless of how strong, have no effect on the resulting render. The same footage in Ver. 15.3 has no artifacts of this kind without NR at all. In the video playback the specks look like they shimmer, of course. YouTube cures the problem when a 4K file is uploaded.
Please enlarge the screenshots to the screen size to see the artifacts.

Memory full error fix for Nvidia video cards. Ok, I watched a YouTube video by JayAreTV
and he says that he eliminated his memory full errors by making a change to his settings.

Divinci Resolve
-Preferences
-Memory and GPU
-set GPU to cuda vs auto

I tried this out with my 4GB memory GPU (1050TI) and found that this setting really helped the timeline scrubbing and playback. Not nearly as many errors as before. I still get the odd error but at least it is not one error every 30 seconds like before. Try it out and see if this helps you out.

Apologies if I have missed something regarding this, but one thing I have noticed is the option to set the quality level of a video export (best, high, medium, etc) has gone in v16.

Was this intended?

Hi All,

Not sure if i missed any posts about this, but i'm going to ask anyway.

I bought fusion studio with the dongle and have activated fusion 16 and resolve 15, great no issues found so far.
However when i go to upgrade to the 16 beta v4 it will only load as a public beta and for the life of me i can't find where to enter the activation key/dongle.

Anybody have thoughts/solutions to this?

Have BMD closed the loop on the cheeky, buy fusion get resolve for the same price deal?

Thanks in advance,

Doug

V16 is still in beta so there isn’t a release version you can install. Use beta4 for now and upgrade as we release betas and GM.

Using Resolve 16.0b4 on a simple project with Text, stills and video.

1. I use YouTube 1080p render settings preset. The Add to Render Queue does not activate until I go to another preset and toggle Single clip and Individual clip. Then can I go back to the YouTube 1080p preset and add my project to the render queue.

2. This is a big one. The audio is out of sync after the render by what seems to be a full clip. This is only on the rendered video. Everything is in sync in Resolve -- Cut, Edit, Deliver -- audio and video in sync. When rendered, the audio is delayed. The video will end, but the audio keeps on playing using MPC-HC 64. If the rendered video is viewed through Resolve, the audio is still out of sync, but it stops when the video ends.

Hi all, long time Premiere user and have now jumped to Resolve. Very happy that I did!!

I have found a weird issue with multicam use.

I have a multicam TL consisting of 2 1080p dslr tracks (23.976 fps) 1 4K track at 25fps and a separate audio track. After editing the multicam my workflow is to copy and paste the edited section into a new timeline. All works OK. When I then flatten the multicam (which is an awesome feature BTW!) I get a few frames trimmed leaving a black pause between clips - only 3 or 4 and not always EVERY join but most of them. It's not a huge issue to roll edit to fill the gap but thought I would bring it to the forum for any suggestions as what may be causing it.

Thanks!

sounds like it has something to do with the differences in framerate. at what framerate is your project/timeline set to? if you got a 23.976 timeline you might want to convert/interpret the footage at 25 fps to that same framerate. since you said it happens to the most clips it sounds the other way around though. its always the best to start your project with clips that are the same framerate. or at least start off with the project framerate set to the same as the majority of your footage.

Hi Rick, the TL framerate is 25fps.I import the synced sequence from Pluarleyes(haven't tried Resolve's built in sync fully yet) so needs to be the framerate exported by Pluraleyes or you get audio sync issues.

Now you mentioning it does sound frame rate related but just odd that it only causes an issue if I flatten the multicam. Leaving it "unflattened" has no issues.

Does your multicam timeline framerate differ from the timeline where you want to flatten it?

Not so hard (or waste of life) in my experience:

1) rename the DR15 Program Files /BlackMagic Design/DaVinci Resolve folder to 'DaVinci Resolve 15'.
2) make shortcut name Resolve 15, rename DB dir as unique, eg 'Resolve15DB'; launch to check & re-point to this renamed DB dir; export 15 DB somewhere handy (for DR16 import);
3) install DaVinci Resolve 16b, will now install at a new Program Files /BlackMagic Design/DaVinci Resolve folder.
4) make shortcut name Resolve 16, launch and import/convert 15 DB; point this at a new DB dir 'Resolve16DB'.

That's it: two Program Files dirs & two DB dirs.

Paul, I do a similar thing in Mac OSX. Rename Resolve to Resolve 15 before installing R16b and also create a new database to avoid upgrading the R15 database.

Apologies for the delay in replying Rick, I've been doing some testing and it is timeline / framerate causing the issue. To give a full overview of my workflow....

25fps 4k + 2 x 23.976 FPS 1080P + 1 x Audio track all thrown through PluralEyes to sync.
PE exports a 25FPS XML which I import into DR and the copy and paste the clips into a "dummy" 25fps multi-cam to edit/chop/crop and trim.

Once edited I copy/paste into a fresh timeline (23.976fps) and all is still OK. Tighten up the trims and flatten and I looses a few frames at about 70% of the joins.

However, copy/paste into a 25fps fresh timeline, tighten up the trims and flatten and all is fine.

Thanks for the pointer on what may be causing the glitch - at least I know a work-around now!

Having major issues exporting to H.264. I had 34 clips in my cue and ready to render. After I began to render, and let it render "everything", I go to my destination folder and only 9 clips of the 34 were exported. I THEN decided to export 3 at a time. STILL not all the clips were exported, only 21 were. Extremely frustrating to say the absolute least...

Macbook Pro
16gRAM
1080p footage
Shouldnt be an issue.

Are you using undividual clips export?
Have you checked the option for using unique file names for the rendered clips in the File tab?

Seems when connecting the Blackmagic eGPU to the Apple Thunderbolt Display using a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunberbolt 2 adapter creates a lag in the audio playback with DaVinci Resolve (audio plays fine with other applications). Works fine with HDMI connection, and when using internal Mac mini speaker.

Audio Keyframing in fairlight

PostWed Sep 04, 2019 2:37 pm

I think Audio Keyframing in Fairlight has a small problem. when I click on audio track volume while I'm holding the Alt key, it changes entire audio level after that keyframe. there is no such problem in edit mode. edit mode is perfect. I saw this issue only in Fairlight. keyframing in Fairlight it is very sensitive.
Thanks

Rendering a 10min 1080p webcam clip using superscale 4x Resolve shows 7plus hours to complete. Obviously, not waiting that long.

Ok, I know my GPU is the bottleneck here but I have a 14 core cpu only running at 6 percent while the GPU is at 100. This only happens when trying to use superscale so obviously that is a gpu only calculation in Resolve. When I render a 10 min 4k video my pc only takes 11 or 12 min because it is not trying to utilize my gpu for anything big.

Can I set Resolve to only render using the cpu??? Or is superscale an issue in this beta 16.1 beta2?

Same question here. I have GTX 1660Ti (6Gb) and time after time get "Your GPU memory is full" error. How can I disable GPU usage and render only with CPU?

You can't, image processing is done on the GPU.

Image output is done on the GPU, but not all processing — there must be a way to balance the GPU/CPU impact in the calculations.

Use Adobe Premiere :)

One of the main attractions of Resolve is its ability to use GPU for processing, which, in imaging, is as much more efficient use of resources than CPU.
