Need advice on clip download to you tube from Davinci

PostTue Aug 13, 2019 9:41 pm

This clip was crisp/sharp palying in Davinci but when i did a test run and put it on you tube, playback looks 720p-ish even though i have you tube playback set to 1080p
What am I doing wrong?

As we can't see the original clip, it's difficult to make any judgements about what it should look like on YouTube.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I think i know the problem, i just dont know how to fix it... if you look at the clip, there is a faint, wavy rainbow affect over the whole picture. I just checked my other clips i downloaded in my computer and they have the same problem. This rainbow/wavy slight distortion is not there when i play the clips in Davinci resolve, so maybe i'm doing something wrong when i render and deliver.

What is the bitrate of your video? You may not be aware that YouTube re-encodes your upload, so a low bitrate may introduce artifacts when they do this.

YouTube suggests 10000kbps for upload, but you should aim for a bit rate that at least matches that of your original footage. For example I shoot 1080 50p at 35000kbps so don't upload at a bit rate lower than that. When I edit 1080 in a UHD timeline I upload that at 80000kbps.
