"Davinci Resolve could not find any opencl capable gpus"

PostWed Dec 26, 2018 9:29 pm

Hi there,
I have no idea if it is ok to open a new topic (am new to this forum), but I have been researching this problem for hours now and just can't find any solutions...

I wanna install Davinci Resolve on Ubuntu 18.10. My problem is that it won't start when I click on it after installation is done. At first, nothing at all came up, then I typed in "sudo apt-get install beignet clinfo" in terminal and it suddenly did something when clicking on it. But then the error message "Davinci Resolve could not find any opencl capable gpus" shows up. Then I click on "Update Configuration" and go to "Memory and GPU" -> "GPU Configuration" -> "GPU processing mode" and change it from Auto to OpenCL. When I click on Save, it wants me to enter a Media Storage (not entirely sure what I should do there). So I click on "Media Storage" -> "Add" and select some random folder (???). When I then click on "Choose", the dialogue immediately closes but doesnt save my changes (even when I click on "save" it doesnt save anything). So it still doesnt start...

BUT I dont think installing Davinci Resolve should be that complicated? Any solutions out there?

Some Hardware Info (if anyone needs it):
- AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
- NVidia GTX 750Ti
- 16GB RAM

Tanacetum,

For Linux, we support only installations on CentOS 7 and RHEL. A manual installation can be done as documented here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=70949 - but using the prepackaged ISO is an option too.

For other distros, please take a look at this forum: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=56878 - posting there gets more Linux specific eyeballs on the post and increases the likelihood you will get meaningful feedback.

Please make sure you have the proprietary drivers from NVIDIA installed - beignet is not supported and nouveau need to be blacklisted. Please search for AMD CPU specific issues and limitations in the same forum. And please understand that, given your current hardware, it will be difficult to leverage the more powerful features in Resolve.
