All versions > aliasing on edges of images.

PostSat Sep 14, 2019 12:42 am

I use a lot of photos and logos in my work. It seems no matter what I do with project settings, there are always flickering black lines at the edges of said images when I animate their zoom or position transforms. Anybody know a workaround?

I’m not in front of Resolve at the moment but there are settings for the scaling algorithms I believe. Have you experimented with those?

I have, but they don't seem to fix the problem. I have used feathered cropping to soften edges. It's tough to have to do it every time though.

I'm running into this issue on 16.1.1.

I've messed around with the scaling algorithms, but it doesn't help much (usually Bicubic is a good scaling algorithm, but it doesnt seem to improve results too mucho in Resolve). I also enabled anti-aliasing in the Image Scaling prefs. I thought it had something to do with Performance Mode, but the problem shows up in final renders, even with high-quality scaling enabled in the Delivery page prefs.

Cropping in on the edges and adding a feather works to eliminate the chatter, but this is far from an ideal workaround.

i found that enabling Super-Scale helps in getting "cleaner" graphics/logos etc.
-> right click on clip -> clip attributes... -> on the bottom of the video-tab you'll finde the "Super Scale"-Option,

The Performance Mode settings might also affect this. If so, it won't show up in renders.

However, if you need full control of the scaling algorithms you can use the Fusion page. It's provides beautiful results, but is of course slower than just adding stuff to the timeline.
