Tutorials for object removal in Fusion

PostSat Feb 08, 2020 1:49 am

Hiya,
We filmed penguins in Falkland Islands, however there are a few ugly fences around the colony to protect them. I was wondering what the best way to approch painting these out would be?

Am I right in thinking first
1. take a still of a frame
2. then repaint the detail in Photoshop
3. then track in Fusion and apply the covering layer on top. Or is there a simpler way?

I know Mocha Pro can do good replacement, but have not tried it myself.

Thanks,
Andreas

There's a new feature in Fusion actually called Object Removal. Have you tried that?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I'm sorry to say this (I love Resolve very much), but "Object Removal" is very very basic, the Content Aware fill of After Effects is much more advanced, light years ahead :)

And object removal in Mocha Pro is a galaxy ahead of Adobe's.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

There are several ways. It's hard to tell without seeing the plate. You can use the paint node and track a clone stroke or a group of clone strokes. Your suggested approach is valid. However, you may want to also regrain the clean patch once it's tracked in place.
