Blackmagic is now selling Sony NP-F570 batteries

If you look under the Video Assist page, you’ll find them. Claiming 3500mah. About 100 higher then the Hawk-Wood ones, and for $20 dollars less.

For small batteries with 3500mAh, ya. The Hawk-Wood ones are $75 per battery for 3400mAh, while these are $55 per battery for 100mAh more.

Depends on the device. In theory, two of them would power a Blackmagic Pocket 4K for 2.5 to 3 hours using the battery grip. However, we'll only know for sure through testing.

Chris, I have two NP-F970 batteries purchased when I bought the MixPre-6 II. I think in the short term, I’ll migrate one of them to the BMVA12G7 and should get comparable runtimes I think. They’re each 7800mAh.

In June I have a demanding shoot Friday/Saturday for a total of about 15 hours (3.5/11.5). I may be able to use mains power, but I’ll need more batteries just in case. I’ll have to run a test with the MixPre and the BMVA12G7 running together until they die to see how well the batteries stand up. I could just run the MixPre all day on the little batteries and have four of the NP-F970 to last all day on the BMVA12G7.

I have the Cinegears 250Wh that can power the BMPCC4K all day (just barely), but I prefer the BMVA12G7 and MixPre to be electrically independent.

Yeah comparing to Hawk-wood. But are these delivered by Hawk-wood? I think they are more of a cheaper kind. You can get two NP-F570 for this price with cheaper brands.

Ya, but the cheaper brands have less mAh. You definitely want batteries that are 2900mAh or higher when using with the Blackmagic cameras. I have one that's that high, and it lasts 50 minutes. 2000mAh lasts 25 minutes. 3600mAh will most likely last 90 minutes per battery, assuming the quality is up to standards, and specs are correct.

Keep in mind, if you don't need the smaller Sony Ls, or don't use the battery grip, then there's cheaper/bigger Sony L batteries out in the wild. But bigger adds more bulk and weight. Sometimes you need to slim things down. So I plan on ordering two to use with LED lights and the new Video Assists.

Bought one of them for testing, and using a battery plate adapter. Abled to get a least an hour and 30 minutes before the charge dropped low enough to switch to the internal. Should be good for Gimbel work and keeping the camera setup light.

Is this going to be the start of a doorknob meme? I like it. When the internet tires of doorknobs, we can always move to toilet handles since I installed a new one yesterday.
