I'm hesitating

PostThu Aug 08, 2013 11:25 am

I absolutely love the idea of buying a black magic cinema camera in the EF fitting, but this is what is holding me back -
I keep reading conflicting discussions regarding the firmware.... v1.4
I have lenses from 14 mm to 600 mm all "L" versions, most not new, but several years old.
It seems that the firmware 1.4 is not guaranteed to drive the iris control on all these lenses. & the manual override of iris control using the advance media also seems to be selective with which lenses to work with too.
I would also like to be able to delete unwanted scenes in the camera.
Can somebody please reassure me that my concerns are unnecessary ?

It will be interesting to see what the new firmware has to offer, and see if it includes more iris control for some of the older "L" lenses.... I guess as an intermediate fix, I could use a variable ND filter with the lenses set at their maximum aperture ?
The problem is, I have some lenses that will not take ND filters.... i.e. 14mm f2.8 mk1 & 300mm f2.8. non IS.

Probably best to post this in the cinematography section of the forum.
