How can I see where the 4x3 center cut area is on the screen

PostSun Aug 11, 2013 9:38 pm

I have a BMCC and when I shoot 1920x1080p I would like to see where the 4x3 center cut area is. Is there a way to turn on lines to see this so I can frame people up properly?

set up frame guides on your editing monitor. Frame that monitor up on your BMCC. Put some of the good quality 'scotch' transparent tape on your viewfinder- the kind that's ever so slightly cloudy. Just line up the inside edge of the tape with the edge of the 4x3 safe.

A little blendo, a little course, but effective. Don't use the clear tape, use the slightly cloudy kind. Did this with wide screen consumer monitors before it ws common to be able to put framelines on the 'client' monitor.
