Long lens for Pocket

PostFri Sep 27, 2013 7:18 am

Hi.

I wonder what would be longest good lens for Pocket?

Thinking of X - 200 mm or more and good stabilizer.

I have no cam yet but i just figured it would be good for traveling as my big rig
always gets left home as it is to big :)

Any ideas or directions are welcome.

Not really.

I was just wondering what others use and if it is doable.

I love my nikon 80-200mm f 2.8. It is tack sharp, has manual aperture and I believe is one of the few nikons which is parfocal, meaning it will hold focus through the zoom ( i have to verify that next time I pull it out)

I think in terms of super 35mm equivalent so looking at what range it gives you:

it will give you a 151mm-378mm fov equivalent bare adapter.

If you add a metabones speed booster it will give you double duty as a 117mm - 292mm FOV at an f2.0.

That is a really nice long lens spread out of one lens. Add a 2X doubler and you can double all of those values at a two stops loss in light.

I would use it outside mostly so stop or two light loss is ok i think.

On 2,5 k body most of the time i have to use ND in normal conditions so this would be ok.

Thnx.
