Update to ITU 1770-2/EBU R128 Loudness Monitoring

PostSun Oct 06, 2013 4:55 pm

Hi you Presidents, CEOs, Salesman, Engineers and Spirits @ BMD! :-)

What about updating ULTRASCOPE Series with new loudness monitoring feature to be conform
to ITU 1770-2/EBU R128. I am missing this feature desperately !!!
Although I have an Ultrascope I have to use an extra RTW loudness monitoring tool ...

best regards,

You can set up thresholds to whatever you want in ultra scope. Just find the official specs and punch them in, then save them as a preset.

Thx for your sugest!
I will check it out, but isn't R128 not more than just an threshold level.
LUFS, LRA, LKFS, .... are complete different to peak levels?
"Loadness" is a matter of time and noise energy!

Loudness ≠ threshold levels. They're quite different. You really need a proper loudness monitoring device to do it; a level meter won't cut it.

I don't know about the government requirements were you are Wolfgang, but here in Australia, we only have to check our loudness in post production (for live broadcasts, it's a little more complicated though). I have Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro, and they have loudness radars built in that conform to all the major standards, so we haven't needed to buy additional hardware to check our conformity.
Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB RAM, NVidia RTX 2070 8GB.
