Decklink Quad or UltraStudio Pro ?

PostSat Oct 19, 2013 8:24 pm

Hello,

I would like to put 3 or 4 HD cameras (hdmi output) in streaming on wirecast for example.
I found these 2 products Decklink Quad and UltraStudio Pro.
Quad PCi have 4 SDI in it's good for my computer i7 3930K -ASUS P9X79WS - Quadro K4000 - 16GO DDR3.
But it's very heavy

My second choice is the UltraStudio Pro for my laptop:
HP EliteWorkstation 8770W (i7 3940XM - Quadro K5000 - 16GO DDR3)

But does it work with this laptop on USB 3.0 ?
And could I put more than one camera on it ?

And do I have to buy SDI converter to HDMI ?

Thanks for your help...

3-4 HD inputs can be somewhat taxing on a computer. I would go with the desktop and a Decklink Quad card. From what I've read people always say you can't compare a mobile CPU to a desktop CPU. The mobile/laptop one is lower power and not as powerful as a normal desktop one. That would be my reasoning for going with the desktop PC rather than a laptop. Depending on the bit rate of your stream and how many you are sending out...you'll need the cpu processing power.

I don't know much about the UltraStudio pro. Looks like there's only 1 HD-SDI in and 1 HD-SDI out.
